It’s been quite a year at the top of the High School Football America Ohio Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football. Massillon Washington, St. Edward and Archbishop Hoban have been battling all season long for the overall No. 1 ranking.

Two-time defending Division I champ St. Ed began the season at No. 1, but dropped to No. 2 after losing to Massillon Washington 15-13 on September 15. Since mid-September, the Tigers have been at the top team in our rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. St. Ed has remained No. 2, followed by Archbishop Hoban at No. 3.

Who will finish the year at No. 1? That will be determined this weekend in Canton with three of huge championship matchups.

Top-ranked Massillon Washington can wrap-up No. 1 when it plays Hoban for the Division II championship on Thursday. Hoban’s only loss was 14-7 to St. Ed in the regular season finale for both teams.

If Hoban beats the Tigers, then our rankings algorithm may have to work overtime, especially if St. Ed beats No. 14 Springfield for the Division I title and No. 4 Toledo Central Catholic wins the Division III against No. 25 Bishop Watterson.

Below is the Ohio Top 25 heading into this weekend’s finals.
