Massillon Washington left no doubt about belonging in Sunday’s High School Football America 100 national rankings. The Tigers rolled by arch-rival Canton McKinley 35-7 on Saturday in the 131st meeting in the storied rivalry knowns as The War of 1894.

Massillon Washington jumped-out to a 7-0 lead after McKinley fumbled at the Tigers’ 1-yard line on its first drive.

Washington Massillon extended the lead to 14-0 at the half.

The closest McKinley would get was 14-7 in the third quarter.

Both teams brought 4-1 records into the game with the Tigers ranked No. 4 in the High School Football America Ohio Top 10 and McKinley ranked No. 13.

Massillon Washington has won the last five in the series and nine of the last ten between the two. The Tigers lead the all-time series 73-53-5.

Next-up for both teams is the postseason.

Massillon Washington is the No. 2 seed in Division II Region 7. After a first round bye, the Tigers will play the winner of the game between Walnut Ridge and Independence. Canton McKinley opens the Division I Region 1 playoffs on Friday against Cleveland Heights.
