For the second straight year, Mater Dei is the High School Football America 100 “mythical” national champ.

The Monarchs, who won the CIF Open Division title, played one of the toughest schedules in America, which included victories over No. 3 St. John Bosco (California), No. 5 IMG Academy (Florida), No. 11 De La Salle (California), No. 16 Corona Centennial (California), No. 42 Bishop Gorman (Nevada), No. 87 Mission Viejo (California) and No. 90 Orange Lutheran (California). The Bosco victory avenged a regular season defeat in the Trinity League.

Ten California teams finished in our Top 100 that is created with our proprietary algorithm. Florida led the way with 14 teams in the national rankings, followed by Georgia and Texas with 13 teams each.

The other California teams in our Top 100 are:

No. 3 St. John Bosco

No. 11 De La Salle

No. 12 Folsom

No. 16 Corona Centennial

No. 39 Oaks Christian

No. 40 JSerra

No. 87 Mission Viejo
