Mater Dei heads into the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs as the No. 1 team in the High School Football America California Top 25 powered by NFL Play Football. The Division 1 bracket is loaded with eight of the top eleven teams in our statewide rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm.
The Monarchs, who are also ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, will open its run to a possible state championship and national championship against No. 10 Norco. The winner of MD and Norco will face the winner of the quarterfinal game between No. 4 Corona Centennial and No. 8 Mission Viejo.
On the other side of the CIF-SS Division 1 bracket, No. 2 St. John Bosco will face No. 7 Los Alamitos. In the other quarterfinal, No. 3 Servite will play No. 11 Santa Margarita.
Three of the four quarterfinal matchups in CIF-SS Division 2 will feature Top 25 head-to-head matchups:
- No. 20 Alemany vs. No. 21 Bishop Amat
- No. 17 Edison (Huntington Beach) vs. Inglewood
- No. 12 Orange Lutheran vs. No. 18 Corona del Mar
- No. 13 Sierra Canyon vs. No. 24 Vista Murrieta
