For the fourth time during the 2023 regular season, there’s a change at the top of the High School Football America California Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Mater Dei is back at No. 1 after 35-7 blow-out of arch-rival St. John Bosco in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 championship. The win moves the Monarchs, who also moved to No. 1 in our national rankings, into the Open Division State Championship Bowl Game against No. 5 Serra (San Mateo). The game will be played December 9.

Mission Viejo makes a big move in the statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. The Diablos jump seven spots to No. 10 after beating Servite 34-15 for the CIF-SS Division 2 championship. Servite drops this week from No. 10 to No. 11 in the Top 25.

MV advances to this week’s Division 1-AA Regional Championship Bowl game against No. 6 Granite Hills (El Cajon).

In all, there will be two other head-to-head matchups this weekend in Regional Championship Bowl Games:

  • Division 1-AA North: No. 8 De La Salle vs. No. 19 Clovis North
