McCallie edges up to No. 4 in the latest High School Football America Tennessee Top 10

McCallie is up one spot to No. 4 in the latest High School Football America Tennessee Top 10 after the Blue Tornado’s 33-14 win over former No. 8 Baylor in their rivalry that dates back to 1908. The win was the fifth straight for McCallie in the series that has been played 86 times. Baylor still leads the all-time series 43-39-4.

McCallie’s win also solidified the school’s spot in the High School Football America 100 national rankings. The Blue Tornado are ranked No. 69 in the Top 100 that was released on Sunday.

McCallie is one of five Tennessee teams in the national rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm. Maryville leads the way at No. 13, followed by Brentwood Academy at No. 38, Oakland at No. 57 and Alcoa at No. 71.

In the statewide rankings, Pope John Paul II is up three spots this week to No. 7 after handing Montgomery Bell Academy its first loss of the season. Andrew Southard hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired to give PJPII a 38-35 road win.

MBA, which drops a spot to No. 8, will try to rebound when it plays No. 2 Brentwood Academy in their annual rivalry matchup this week.
