Miami Central’s Roland Smith heading to college football

2014 High School Football America National High School Football Coach of the Year Roland Smith is leaving national power Miami Central. Smith, who led the Rockets to six Florida high school football championships, is joining the University of Miami (Florida) football support staff.

Miami Central has won three straight state championships, finishing No. 16 last year in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Rockets’ only losses in a 12-2 season last year came at the hands of No. 8 St. John’s Bosco (California) and No. 15 Bishop Gorman (Nevada).

Smith, who played cornerback for the Hurricanes, finishes with a 96-18 record since taking-over in 2013.
