Michigan’s longstanding travel rule prohibiting high school football teams from playing outside of a 300-mile radius of the state is no longer on the books. Earlier this month, the Michigan High School Athletic Association Representative Council voted to remove the 300-mile travel rule and replace it with a new one.

Under the new rule, Michigan teams can now play high school football games in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ontario, Canada. Schools outside of those states can still play Michigan teams, but those games must be played either in the Wolverine State or in the aforementioned five state or in the province of Ontario.
