Defending 2018 state champs Chippewa Valley (Division 1), De La Salle (Division 2) and Martin Lutheran King (Division 3) will play in the 2019 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic at the end of August. The Detroit Sports Commission announced the three-day, six-game schedule on Monday.
Chippewa Valley, which finished No. 95 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings and No. 1 in the HSFA Michigan Top 10 statewide rankings, will play state semifinalist Saline in the second game on Thursday, August 29. These two met in the season opener last year with Chippewa Valley winning 31-26.
On August 30, De La Salle will face Division 3 runner-up Muskegon. Then on Saturday, Detroit King, which beat Muskegon for the Division 3 title, will play Detroit Catholic Central.
The final game on Saturday will be great interstate matchup between Cass Tech and two-time Illinois state champ Phillips Academy.
All of the games will be played at Wayne State.
