For the first time ever, Mill Creek is in the High School Football America Top 25 presented by Krossover Intelligence. Coming off their big win Saturday over our defending “mythical” national champs Colquitt County, the Hawks jumped from their #33 preseason ranking to #22.
Saturday’s victory snapped the two-time defending Georgia Class AAAAAA champs’ 30-game win streak. It also avenged last year’s state semifinal loss by the Hawks to the Packers. Colquitt County began the year ranked #43 in the nation in our poll. As a result of the seven point loss, the Packers drop one spot from #43 to #44 in The Other 25.
Roswell, ranked #15 in our preseason national poll, also opened strong. The Hornets beat Buford, which entered the game with seven state titles in the last nine years in three different classifications.
Georgia’s other Top 25 team, Grayson, ranked #8 in our preseason poll was idle and held on to its spot in our latest rankings that are based upon our proprietary algorithm. Saturday, the Rams will host #2 IMG Academy from Florida in a nationally-televised game.
