Mill Creek moves to No. 1 in Georgia Top 25 high school football rankings

Mill Creek is now No. 1 in the High School Football America Georgia Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The reigning 7A champs make the jump from No. 3 to the top spot after knocking-off former No. 1 Buford 31-24 Friday night in a nationally-televised game on ESPN2.

Buford drops to No. 2 this week, followed by Colquitt County at No. 3 and Walton at No. 4. All four of those teams are also ranked in the HSFA 300 national rankings. Mill Creek is ranked the highest at No. 10.

There are two big head-to-head matchups inside the statewide rankings this week:

First place in 7A Region 2 will be on the line when No. 5 Carrollton hosts No. 15 Westlake. Sophomore quarterback JuJu Lewis is having an outstanding season while leading the Trojans to 47.8 points per game on offense. . He’s completed over 67-percent of his passes (112-of-167) for 1,920 yards with 29 touchdowns and only one interception. His quarterback rating on MaxPreps.com is 143.0.

In 6A, No. 23 Thomas County Central is tied with Lee County at the top of Region 1 with a 2-0 record. On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets will play No. 19 Houston County, which will bring a 1-1 record mark into the game.

No. 9 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee will close-out its regular season with a huge independent game against Providence Day (North Carolina). Both teams enter the game nationally ranked. RGN is No. 95 in the HSFA 300. Providence Day is ranked No. 67 in America.
