The race for state championships began in earnest last weekend as the Missouri high school football playoffs began.  #3 Rockhurst got a scare in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs, needing overtime before overcoming Park Hill 21-14.

Former #5 Lee’s Summit saw its season and time in the High School Football America Top 10 come to an end with a 21-7 loss to Raymore-Peculiar, a team LS beat 44-23 during the regular season.  R-P enters the rankings at #8 and this week faces #4 Lee’s Summit West, a team they beat 42-35 during the regular season.  Paymore-Peculiar (6-4) also owns a regular season win over #2 Blue Springs during the final week of the regular season.  The Panthers had lost three straight prior to their 26-21 upset of Blue Springs.
