Monroe wins North Carolina 2A high school football championship

Monroe overcame a halftime deficit to beat Northeastern 35-25 to capture the North Carolina Class 2A high school football championship at UNC’s Keenan Stadium. The Redhawks trailed 18-14 at the half.

The championship is Monroe’s second in five tries and the first since 2015.

Northeastern is now winless in four championship games.
