Monsignor Farrell up to No. 3 in latest New York Top 10 high school football rankings

It will be No. 1 Iona Prep against No. 3 Monsignor Farrell for the Catholic High School Football League championship this weekend. Farrell advanced to the title game and moves-up one spot in the latest High School Football America New York Top 10 after beating Archbishop Stepinac 24-21.

The championship game will be a rematch of the September 18 regular season game between the two. Iona Prep won that one 24-10. The Gaels advanced to the title game with a double-overtime win over No. 6 St. Anthony’s.

The winner of IP and Monsignor Farrell will advance to the Catholic League championship game against No. 2 St. Francis (Hamburg). The Red Raiders qualified for the state championship game by beating No. 5 Canisius 21-10. It was the second time this year that St. Francis beat the Crusaders.

There will be a rematch on Long Island for the Suffolk County Division I. No. 9 Walt Whitman beat No. 10 William Floyd 27-0 on October 2.
