Mount Carmel (Chicago) shakes-up Illinois Top 10 by beating Batavia

No. 5 Mount Carmel (Chicago) will face No. 4 Brother Rice this weekend in the Class 7A state quarterfinals. The Caravan will be on a high after taking-down top-seeded Batavia 16-14 last weekend.

The loss drops Batavia from No. 7 to No. 9 in the latest High School Football America Illinois Top 10 powered by NFL Play Football.

During their regular season mathcup, Brother Rice beat MC 43-36.

New to the rankings this week is Marist. The RedHawks are at No. 10, replacing St. Ignatius, which drops-out of the statewide rankings after losing to Crete-Monee in Class 6A. St. Ignatius enter the game ranked No. 7 in the Top 10.

Marist, whose losses have come against No. 2 Loyola Academy, Brother Rice and Mount Carmel (Chicago), will play Glenbrook South in the state quarterfinals on Saturday.
