Nationally-ranked New Bern (North Carolina) hires new head football coach nearly 2 weeks before the start of 2023 fall camp

Terrance Saxby, the new head high school football football coach at reigning North Carolina 4A champ New Bern, will go into hurry-up mode as he begins his time with the Bears. Saxby was hired Tuesday night, 13 days before the opening of fall camps across the state, to replace Torrey Nowell, who took the head coaching job at Hillside High School last month.

New Bern opens 2023 ranked No. 275 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Last year, the Bears finished No. 122 in the HSFA 300.
