Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 overall college football prospect, is heading to the powerful Buford football program, winners of 14 Georgia high school football state championships. The 5-star quarterback has announced he will transfer from Pinnacle (Arizona) to the Wolves for his senior season.

Raiola’s transfer brings him closer to his future college football home. Earlier this year, he gave his verbal commitment to the University of Georgia, which is about 40 miles from Buford.

Buford will be the fourth school for the 6-3, 220-pounder since his sophomore year. After his 2021 season at Burleson High School in Texas, Raiola transferred to Arizona’s Chandler High School. During the offseason, he announced his transfer to Pinnacle.

Last year at Chander, Raiola led the Wolves to a No. 68 ranking in the High School Football America 300 national rankings. He threw for 2,435 yards with 22 touchdowns against only five interceptions, according to his MaxPreps.com statistics.

Raiola gives Buford two players in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Safety 5-star KJ Bolden is ranked No. 7 in their latest rankings.

Last year, Buford was ranked No. 3 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, before losing in the second round of the 7A playoffs. The Wolves eventually finished No. 32 in our Top 300.

Buford will open the season against St. Frances Academy from Maryland. SFA features Oregon-recruit Michael Van Buren, who is considered the No. 13 quarterback prospect in the 247 composite rankings.

That August 18 game will air nationally on FloFootball, as part of Prep Gridiron Logistics’ 2023 broadcast schedule.
