Nevada No. 1 Bishop Gorman almost takes-down reigning national champ Mater Dei (California)

Top-ranked Bishop Gorman had defending national champ Mater Dei (California) on the ropes in Las Vegas last Friday. The Gaels led 21-7 in the third quarter, but the Monarch scored 17 unanswered points to win 24-21.

The loss was the third by Gorman to Mater Dei in three tries.

This week, the Gaels will travel to Hawaii to face St. Louis.

As far as the rest of the High School Football America Nevada Top 10 rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, No. 2 Liberty also lost to an out-of-state opponent. The Patriots were nipped 20-19 by defending Utah 6A champ Lone Peak.

Arbor View solidified its No. 3 ranking with a 38-6 win over former No. 5 Shadow Ridge, which falls to No. 6.

Faith Lutheran moves-up two spots to No. 5 after beating Legacy 25-8.

New to the rankings this week are Spanish Springs at No. 9 and Reed at No. 10.
