It’s only the first week of September, but will the national championship be decided this weekend?

No. 1 Bishop Gorman will face four-time national champ Mater Dei in Southern California this week. The Gaels are currently ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, MD is ranked No. 1 in the nation.

BG owns a 27-game win streak. The Gaels haven’t loss since August 26, 2022 when Mater Dei beat them at Fertitta Stadium.

As far as the latest HSFA Nevada Top 10, Faith Lutheran moves up two spots this week to No. 5. The Crusaders are off to a 3-0.

No. 3 Liberty will be looking for its first win this week when it faces Southern Californa-power Mission Viejo, ranked No. 29 in the nation. The Patriots’ two losses have come against two nationally-ranked teams — Skyridge (Utah) and Mililani (Hawaii).
