Bishop Gorman’s drive for a second High School Football America national championship took a big hit in Southern California Friday night. The top team in the HSFA Nevada Top 10 high school football rankings, lost to nationally No. 1 Mater Dei 31-15 at Santa Ana Stadium in SoCal. The loss snapped the Gaels’ 27-game win streak.

In the national rankings, the loss dropped BG from No. 2 to No. 3 in our rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

This week, Gorman plays SoCal’s Orange Lutheran, ranked No. 10 in the nation.

As far as the rest of the statewide rankings are concerned, Legacy enters the Top 10 at No. 10 after beating former No. 6 Desert Pines 28-13.

This week’s big in-state game is between No. 5 Faith Lutheran and No. 6 Shadow Ridge.
