East Orange won the Group 5 North Regional championship with a heart-stopping 30-24 win over Clifton in triple overtime.

The Jaguars won it when quarterback Kyle Vellis tried to score on a 4th down sneak. He fumbled and Ahmad Nalls of East Orange recovered it and returned it 100 yards for the championship-winning touchdown.

East Orange entered the contest ranked No. 17 in the High School Football America New Jersey Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football. Clifton was No. 21 in the state.

In the South, Hillsborough beat Kingsway 28-7 at SHI Stadium at Rutgers. Thomas Amankwaa caught a pair of touchdown passes for the Raiders.

Hillsborough entered the game with a perfect 12-0 record, ranked No. 14 in the New Jersey Top 25.
