For the first time since 1986, New Salem-Almont is a North Dakota high school football state champ. The Holsteins battled back from a 14-point deficit to beat Cavalier 28-26 in overtime for the 9B state title.
The Holsteins stopped a two-point conversion for the victory.

The victory gives New Salem-Almont head coach Steve Kleinjan his first state championship in 26 years at the helm of the program. NS-A finishes 2022 a perfect 12-0.
