New York Jets’ 2023 Gatorade Player of the Week Winners

Each week during the Spring 20023 Girls Flag Football season, the Jets and Gatorade recognize a Player of the Week. Throughout the season, the Jets will host Girls Flag teams from New York and New Jersey to play a series of regular season games at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, where the Player of the Week will be selected.

The player will receive a $1,000 donation from the Jets and Gatorade in their name to support their high school’s Girls Flag program. The award will also be announced on the Anita Marks Show hosted by Anita Marks on 98.7 ESPN.

Below are the weekly honorees:

Week 7 – Julie Jerome, Hillside HS (New Jersey)


Julie Jerome is a senior wide receiver and safety from Hillside High School in Hillside, NJ. The Comets claimed the BCC Championship in a 33-6 win over Monroe to improve their record to 6-0 overall. Jerome had six receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. She’s been a force on offense all season, gathering 358 yards and eight total touchdowns in just six games. On the defensive end, she came up with a pick-six, making it her third interception this season. The Comets play Immaculate Conception next with the winner advancing to the New Jersey State Championship title game on June 10th.

Week 6 – Alyssa Sarlo, Warwick Valley HS (New York)

Alyssa Sarlo is a sophomore quarterback from Warwick Valley High School in Warwick, Half Hollow Hills
NY. The Wildcats overcame a 14-point deficit to claim the Section IX Championship in a 27-20 win over Pine Bush. Sarlo completed 25-32 passes for 190 yards. She also threw 4 touchdown passes and rushed for 22 yards.

Week 5 – Emma Henyecz, New Milford HS (New Jersey)

Emma Henyecz, is a junior Quarterback from New Milford High School in New Milford, NJ. The Knights posted a 34-15 win over Hawthorne to improve their record to 4-4 on the season. Henyecz had over 200 passing yards and picked up an additional 100 yards rushing. She completed five touchdown passes and four extra points. Henyecz also plays soccer, basketball and softball for the Knights.

Week 4 – Cara Van Allen, Westfield HS (New Jersey)

Cara Van Allen is a senior quarterback from Westfield High School in Westfield, NJ. The Blue Devils posted a 34-7 win over Elizabeth to continue their undefeated season. Van Allen had 200 passing yards and picked up 50 yards rushing. She completed two touchdown passes and three extra points. In the last three games, Van Allen’s gathered seven total touchdowns. She has been a key player on the Blue Devils offense, leading them to a 3-0 start.

Week 3 – Maggie Lauletta, Lindenhurst HS (New York)

Maggie Lauletta is a freshman running back from Lindenhurst High School in Lindenhurst, NY. The Bulldogs posted a 24-2 win over Huntington to earn their second win on the season. Lauletta scored two touchdowns, rushing for over 20 yards on each. She ran for an additional 30 yards, giving her a total of 70. Lauletta also plays a key role on defense, coming up with nine flag pulls.

Week 2- Briana Juncaj, Minisink Valley HS (New York)

Briana Juncaj is sophomore wide receiver and defensive back from Minisink Valley High School in Slate Hill, NY. The Warriors won 28-0 against Middletown to improve their record to 4-0-1 on the season. Juncaj had six catches for 87 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns. She also came up with a pick, making it her sixth interception of the season. Juncaj was the Warrior’s MVP of their win last week against Goshen.

Week 1 – Steela Orellana, Mount Olive HS (New Jersey)

Stella Orellana is a junior running back from Mount Olive High School in Flanders, NJ. The Marauders won 38-0 against Essex Tech to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. Orellana ran for 150 yards, gathering two touchdowns – one, which came on the opening drive of the game. On the defensive end, she had two interceptions. Orellana is also a leading scorer on the Mount Olive soccer team.
