After a successful first year, the New York Jets and Nike are expanding the number of New Jersey high schools that will play girls’ flag football this spring. According to a news release from the NFL club, 18 teams will join the eight teams that played in the inaugural season of the Jets High School Girls Flag Football League.
The expansion will include eight new teams from the North Jersey Super Football Conference. Clifton, JFK (Paterson), Mount Olive, Nutley, Ridgewood, Union City, Wayne Valley and Weequahic will join the founding eight schools (below) for the Spring 2022 season.

Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) won the first-ever New Jersey girls’ flag football championship by beating Irvington 18-1 last spring in a game played at MetLife Stadium.
This year’s expansion will also include the the North Jersey Interscholastic and the Big Central Football conferences. Each conference will have five teams each playing this spring.

In collaboration with the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, schools in Section VIII (Nassau County) and XI (Suffolk County) will become the first on Long Island to participate in girls’ flag football.

Each school will receive funding and equipment from the Jets and Nike.
Currently, six states —Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada and New York — have sanctioned girls high school flag football leagues.
