New York Jets honor Bashkim Pelinkovic of Susan E. Wagner HS as their Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer

Bashkim Pelinkovic of Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island, NY has been named this week’s Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa. Coach Pelinkovic will receive a $2,000 donation to benefit the school’s flag football program. Along with the monetary award, Coach Pelinkovic will be invited to attend the New York Jets preseason game in August, where he will be honored on field at MetLife Stadium.

In its first year, the Jets Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Last week, the Falcons claimed the PSAL championship in a 7-6 win over Tottenville, avenging last year’s title loss. Pelinkovic grew up on Staten Island and graduated from Curtis High School. He went on to the College of Staten Island and Saint John’s University before kickstarting his career at Susan E. Wagner. There, Pelinkovic is an English teacher and Dean, and serves as the Girls Flag Football and Boys Soccer coach. He previously coached Girls JV Volleyball from 2006-2018. Pelinkovic led the Flag team to a 8-2 regular season and 5-0 playoff run.

Visa and the NFL have teamed up to help teach financial concepts with Financial Football, a fast-paced interactive game that engages students while teaching them money management skills.
