The Jets named Rocco Del Priore of Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island, NY as this week’s High School Coach of the Week. Coach Del Priore will receive a $1,000 donation to benefit the school’s football program. Along with the monetary award, Monsignor Farrell High School will receive an automatic bid to compete in the 2024 New York Jets 11-ON TOURNAMENT.
Coach Del Priore will be invited to attend the New York Jets vs. Houston Texans game on Sunday, December 10th, where he will be honored on-field at MetLife Stadium.
In its 28th year, the Jets High School Coach of the Week award is given to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school, and their student-athletes.
The Monsignor Farrell Lions stunned on the road with a 27-21 win over New York’s #1 ranked team, St. Anthony’s, marking the first time they took down the Friars since 2000. Coach Del Priore grew up in Oakwood, NY and attended Monsignor Farrell High School, where he played nose guard for four years. Since returning to his alma mater 18 years ago, Del Priore has held several positions with the Lions, including his most recent stint as varsity defensive coordinator. He was named head coach in 2022 and has led Monsignor Farrell to a 6-2 record this season.

For 10 weeks during the football season the Jets and Gatorade present the High School Coach of the Week award to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to his community, his school and his student-athletes. Gatorade and the Jets award each winner with a $2,000 check for their high school’s football program. In addition to the weekly award, a Coach of the Year is selected at the end of the high school season. The Coach of the Year winner is awarded $4,000 and receives a Gatorade cooler cart from the Jets and Gatorade.
