No. 1 Good Counsel beats No. 2 DeMatha to remain on top of HSFA Maryland Top 10

Good Counsel is now a solid No. 1 in the High School Football America Maryland Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Falcons beat arch-rival DeMatha 35-28 in an overtime thriller last weekend.

Both teams have big Washington Catholic Athletic Conference matchups this week against teams ranked in the HSFA 300 national rankings. GC plays Gonzaga (Washington, DC) and DeMatha meets St. John’s College HS (Washington, DC).

In the other intra-Top 10 matchup last week, Mount St. Joseph beat McDonogh 26-20. MSJ moves from No. 7 to No. 6 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. McDonogh drops from No. 5 to No. 7.

On the public schools side of things, unranked Wise beat previously undefeated Flowers 17-14 in overtime. The Pumas move into the Top 10 at No. 9. Flowers holds at No. 10.

This week’s big game is between No. 4 Archbishop Spalding and Pennsylvania-power St. Joseph’s Prep, ranked No. 9 in the HSFA 300. Spalding enters the game No. 94 in the nation.
