No. 1 Mater Dei (California) replaces cancelled games with a trip to Las Vegas for Polynesian Football Classic

After losing games against Corona Centennial (California) and Mililani (Hawaii) due to COVID-19 protocols, Mater Dei was facing an eight-game regular season schedule. Thanks to some quick work, the No. 1 team in the 2021 Preseason High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football, the NFL’s initiative to provide fun and engaging experience for players of all ages and skill levels, will play nine games.

The 2017 and 2018 national champs will play 2019 Nevada state champ Liberty in the Polynesian Football Classic at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas on September 10. Liberty, which didn’t play last season, due to the coronavirus pandemic, is ranked No. 154 in our preseason national rankings.

In 2019, Liberty finished No. 62 in the Top 100.

The three-game Polynesian Classic features five teams in our preseason national rankings.

The event opens with four-time Utah state champ Orem playing Nevada’s Desert Pines. Orem, currently ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America Utah Top 10, is ranked No. 100 in our national rankings.

Host Bishop Gorman will close-out the event on September 11 when it plays Lone Peak from Utah. BG is ranked No. 89 in our Preseason 100. Lone Peak is ranked No. 104.
