DeSoto scored on its first offense play and kept rolling on the way to a 49-35 win over Duncanville Saturday. The game between reigning Texas high school football champs was delayed from Friday after a downpour and lightning engulfed Eagle Stadium.

DeSoto, ranked No. 11 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, took at 7-0 lead when DJ Bailey hooked up with Daylon Singleton.

After No. 6 Duncanville, the defending 6A Division I champs, closed to 7-3 on a field goal, Singeton returned the kickoff 96-yards to make it 14-3.

After Duncanville came back twice to tie the game at 14 and 21, DeSoto took the lead for good with about four minutes to go in the half when Bailey and Singleton hooked-up again.

Bailey finished with four TD passes. Singleton had two touchdown catches plus the kickoff return. Running back Marvin Duffy ran for two scores.

The DeSoto win, its first over the Panthers since 2016, snaps Duncanville’s 22-game win streak. DeSoto’s win streak now stands at 15 straight.
