Having played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, Venice looks to cap 2024 with the school’s fourth high school football championship. Saturday, the Indians, ranked No. 11 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, will play No. 87 for the Florida 7A high school football championship.
Venice’s only loss this year was to national power IMG Academy (Florida), ranked No. 10 in the nation. The Indians own wins against seven nationally-ranked opponents — No. 38 Cocoa (Florida 2A champ), No. 42 Clearwater Central Catholic, No. 44 Northwestern (Miami), No. 75 Columbus (Miami), No. 126 Tampa Bay Tech, No. 250 Bishop Verot and No. 278 Port Charlotte.
On the other hand, Lake Mary is playing in its first state championship game.
