Thompson, ranked No. 15 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, is celebrating its third straight Alabama 7A state championship. Wednesday night, the Warriors beat No. 75 Central (Phenix City) 38-22 to become the first 7A champ three-peat in the state’s largest classification.

Quarterback Conner Harrell, a 2020 High School Football America Academic All-American, closed-out his high school career by completing 10-of-16 passes for 271 yards with two touchdowns, plus he ran for a score. The North Carolina-recruit completed seven of those passes to Ryan Peppins for 203 yards. Peppins caught both of Harrell’s touchdown passes.

Thompson head coach Mark Freeman now owns nine Alabama high school football championships. In addition to the three he’s won with Thompson, he led Spanish Fort to two titles and four at Bessemer Academy.

Thompson has played in four straight 7A championships. In 2018, the Warriors lost to Central in the championship game.
