No. 21 Liberty takes down No. 38 Centennial for Arizona Open Division Championship

Liberty is finally an Arizona Open Division high school football champ. Saturday, the Lions, ranked No. 21 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat No. 38 Centennial, their crosstown rival, 33-21 for the 2023 title.

Prior to Saturday night, Liberty had lost three straight years in the state semifinals. The state championship is the second for the Lions, who won the 6A crown in 2019.

During their regular season matchup with Centennial, the Lions beat the Coyotes 36-17 on November 3.
