After an 0-4 start, Chula Vista’s Mater Dei Catholic is now a back-to-back California high school football champ. The Crusaders beat Oakland’s McClymonds 26-18 Friday to win the Division 2-AA state championship.

McClymonds jumped-out to a 6-0 lead on the first play from scrimmage when Ferrari Miller returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown.

Mater Dei Catholic, ranked No. 284 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, finishes 11-4. McClymonds season ends with a 12-2 mark.
