In the first quarter, it looked like No. 3 Allen was going to cruise past No. 14 Lake Travis in the Texas Class 6A Division I championship game.  The Eagles had a 21-0 lead and the Cavaliers had already lost star quarterback Matt Baldwin to a knee injury on the first play of the game.

However, the defending state champs battled all the way back, taking a 24-21 lead with a Pick-6 on the first play of the second half.

After that the two battled toe-to-toe before Allen left the field with its fifth overall state title with a 35-33 win.

The difference was Allen stopping LT’s two-point conversion attempt with about ten minutes to go in the game.
