Nationally-ranked Kahuku is 1-0, but not before a scare against Saint Louis Saturday night. The Red Raiders, ranked No. 30 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings and No. 1 in our Hawaii Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, fell behind their rivals 13-0.
However, in the second half Troy Mariteragi tossed two touchdown passes to give Kahuku a 14-13 win.
At the end, Saint Louis, No. 5 in the Preseason Hawaii Top 10, had a chance to win it with a 42-yard field goal, but the try was no good.
Next week, Kahuku hosts No. 2 Bishop Gorman, winners of 13 of the last 14 Nevada big school state championships.
