Providence Day’s run of three straight North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championships is over. Friday night, in a battle of highly-ranked teams in the High School Football America 300, No. 43 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Georgia) beat the Chargers, ranked No. 56 in the nation, 42-39.
It was the second time this year that RGN has beaten Providence Day (North Caroilna). On October 18, the Eagles beat the Chargers 46-13.
The title is the first-ever for the private school in northern Georgia that finishes with an 11-2 record. PD wraps up a 9-3 season.
