For the second time since 2018, Milton sits atop Georgia’s largest high school football classification. Wednesday night, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, the Eagles beat unbeaten Walton 31-21 for the 7A state title.

Walton, which entered the game ranked No. 13 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, led 7-0 and 14-7 at halftime. After that the Eagles, ranked No. 45 in our national rankings, reeled-off 17 unanswered points to take a 24-14 lead early in the fourth.

Walton closed to 24-21 on a touchdown pass from Jeremy Hecklinski, a Wake Forest-recruit, to Cameron Lloyd.

In the end it was the Milton defense that sealed the victory with a Pick-6 by Jacorey Stewart. It was the third interception of the game for the Eagles, who also recorded three sacks. 24 of Milton’s points came off over turnovers.
