No. 49 Katy upends No. 10 North Shore on opening night in Texas

Houston-area heavyweights Katy and North Shore went toe-to-toe on Thursday in the season opener for both teams that area ranked in the High School Football America 100 national rankings. When the clock hit 0:00, No. 49 Katy had won a hard-fought 24-21 victory over the defending Texas Class 6A Division I champs, who entered the game on national television ranked No. 10.

Before a sellout crowd, the visiting Tigers battled back from a 21-7 halftime deficit. The Tigers used a ball control offense with Ron Hoff carrying the ball 32 times for 206 yards with one touchdown. Quarterback Bronson McClelland played very well, finishing 14-for-24 for 233 yards passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
