While most of America was asleep, two-time reigning Hawaii Open Division state champ Kahuku upset defending national champ St. John Bosco (California) 30-23. It was a game that saw SJB, ranked No. 1 in the latest High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, fall behind No. 52 Kahuku 22-3 in the first half.

The Braves didn’t panic, taking a 23-22 lead with 8:17 to play in the game on Chauncey Sylvester’s second touchdown run.

Kahuku’s game-winning touchdown drive began with 2:35 to go in the game. It ended when Tuli Tagovailoa-Amosa, the cousin of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, scored on an 18-yard touchdown run with :23 seconds to play.

Kahuku’s win comes on week after being crushed by No. 2 Mater Dei 55-8. Last year, Bosco beat the Red Raiders 34-7 in Southern California.
