Oakland running back Eric Taylor ran for 175 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Patriots to their third straight Tennessee 6A state championship. The 42-6 rout of Beech at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga was the school’s fourth in five years.

The game was tied at the half with Oakland holding a 14-6 lead. However, three touchdowns in a four-and-a-half minute span in the middle of the third quarter blew the game open for the Patriots, who entered the game ranked No. 59 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
