John Curtis, ranked No. 62 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, opened the 2018 season with a 42-18 win over Landry-Walker. The Patriots were without junior starting quarterback Collin Guggenheim, who injured his foot earlier in the week.

Running back Ma’Khi Smith was JC’s leading rusher with 138 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.

The victory was the 570th of J.T. Curtis’ illustrious coaching career. He’s second on the all-time coaching victories list.
