Edna Karr left no doubt that it’s the best high school football team in Louisiana in 2024. Saturday, at Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, the Cougars routed Alexandria 53-8 for the state’s Select Division I title.
The win caps a perfect 13-0 season for Karr, which entered the game ranked No. 63 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. No. 70 Alexandria loses its first game of the season.
Karr quarterback John Johnson was named the game’s outstanding player after running for three scores and passing for two more. He accounted for 358 of the Cougars’ 512 offensive yards.
It’s the Cougars first state championship since 2019 and the school’s seventh overall.
