No. 64 Marietta off to a fast start in Georgia

Marietta, ranked No. 64 in the High School Football America Preseason 100, rode the strong right arm of Tennessee-recruit Harrison Bailey in a season opening 48-14 win over Rome in the 28th annual Corky Kell Classic Thursday night. Bailey completed 19-of-30 passes for 367 yards with five touchdowns.

5-star tight end Arik Gilbert caught nine of those passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.

The win avenged a 51-41 loss to Rome in last season‘s season opener. The loss was the first at home for Rome since 2015.

Next up for Marietta is St. Joseph’s Prep next Friday. The Hawks are ranked No. 4 in the High School Football America 100.
