No. 68 Carencro snaps No. 28 Edna Karr’s run of four Louisiana Class 4A high school football championships

The streak is over.

Carencro beat Edna Karr 35-19 Tuesday night for the Louisiana Class 4A championship, which snaps Karr’s run of four straight state titles. The Cougars were looking to tie John Curtis’ state-record of five straight state titles.

Karr, ranked No. 28 in the latest High School Football America 100 national rankings powered by BlackMP Living Water, took at 13-7 into the halftime locker room.

The start of the second half saw Carencro score on its first three possessions to open-up an insurmountable lead.

The Cougars would get as close as 22-19 in the second half.

Carencro, which entered the state title game ranked No. 68 in our national rankings, wins its first state title since 1992. The win snapped Karr’s streak of 24 consecutive playoff wins.
