The Battle at the Beach in Ocean City, New Jersey continues to attract major out-of-state high school football programs.
Friday, event officials announced on X (formerly Twitter) that BATB V will feature reigning New Jersey Non-Public A champ Bergen Catholic facing 2024 Illinois 6A champ East St. Louis. Both schools finished 2024 highly-ranked in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
After winning its fourth straight state championship, BC finished No. 7 in the HSFA 300. ESL finished No. 15 in the nation.
Ironically, both team’s only loss in ’24 was to national power IMG Academy (Florida).
BC ripped-off eleven straight wins after losing to IMG 27-14 in the Battle at the Beach IV last August. East St. Louis lost by one point to IMG in overtime
The Bergen Catholic/East St. Louis game will be played on Thursday, August 28.
