No. 8 Thompson beats No. 24 Hoover in Alabama Top 100 showdown

Defending Alabama 7A state champ Thompson, ranked No. 8 in the High School Football America 100, heads into the postseason a perfect 10-0 after beating No. 24 Hoover 39-23 Friday night. The win gives Thompson the Class 7A Region 3 championship, their third in the last five years. It was also their fifth win over the Bucs in their last seven games.

Thompson junior quarterback Connor Harrell completed 11 of his first 12 passes, finishing 28-of-34 for 301 yards with two touchdowns.

Thompson running back Jarrett Crockett ran for 119 yards with three short touchdowns.

The biggest play of the game was a Gavin Shipman Pick-6 late in the first half to give Thompson a 19-10 lead.
