No. 88 Thomas County Central beats No. 120 Woodward Academy for Georgia 6A high school football championship

Thomas County Central roared out to a 28-0 lead in the Georgia 6A state championship and never looked back on the way to 49-28 win over Woodward Academy at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons. The title is the first for the Yellow Jackets since 1997 and the sixth overall for the program that entered the game ranked No. 88 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Sophomore quarterback Jaylen Johnson had a big game. He ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 6-of-8 passes for 135 yards with three touchdowns.

Woodward Academy, which entered the game ranked No. 120 nationally, finishes the season with a 12-3 record.
