After a late start to the season due to the coronavirus pandemic, both No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas and No. 89 Cardinal Gibbons were looking forward to Friday night’s battle between the two South Florida powerhouses. When the smoke cleared, Gibbons was the team celebrating after a 17-10 upset.

Gibbons then reeled-off 17 unanswered points. CG tied the game at 7-7 on a Kamari Moulton touchdown run.

Gibbons then kicked an 18-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead with 3:11 to go in the game. On Aquinas’ next possession, Gibbons came-up with a Pick 6.

STA kicked a field goal to close the gap to 17-10, but Gibbons came-up with the onside kick attempt to ice the game.
