It’s hard to beat a team twice in the same year. No. 95 Maryville (13-1) punched its ticket to next week’s Tennessee 6A title game Friday night with a 31-28 win over No. 73 Oakland. The victory avenged a 17-14 loss to Oakland (13-1) in Week 2 of the regular season.
Jack Cone’s 39-yard field goal with :26 seconds left in the game proved to be the difference for the Rebels, who will face Cane Ridge next week for the state title.

Maryville tied the game in the fourth quarter when senior quarterback Dylan Hopkins, a Mr. Football finalist and UAB-commit, caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from A.J. Davis with 8:00 remaining in the game. Hopkins did not play in the first game between the two.
