Not a misprint – Long Beach Poly (CA) wins 99-9

by Jeff Fisher

If you read the Press-Telegram’s story, it seems both coaches are happy after Long Beach Poly‘s 99-9 win over Compton Friday night.

Compton head coach Elijah Asante was asked if he felt Poly (5-1) ran-up the score and his answer was “No, not at all”.  The story goes on to state that Poly dressed 75 guys and all of them played.

One interesting note from writer Mike Guardabascio in his story is that Jackrabbit head coach and former NFLer Antonio Pierce stated before the season that “he would take his starters out, but wouldn’t take his football off the gas pedal in lopsided league games.”

Last year, Poly only allowed six points total against Moore League opponents.
